Talisker Damıtımevi, Hugh ve Kenneth MacAskill tarafından 1830 yılında kuruldu. İskoç şarap tüccarlarını selamlayan adıyla Port Ruighe ekspresyonu ise, 2013 yılında Talisker ailesine katıldı.

Bitiş; orta uzun arası, karabiber, tatlılık ve yine is.

Port Ruighe NAS, amber renginde ve fakat renklendirici kullanılıyor. Soğuk filtrasyon uygulanmadan %45.8 ABV ile şişeleniyor. Viski, burbon meşe fıçılarda olgunlaşıyor ve ruby port şarap fıçılarda bitiş veriliyor.

Talisker, 1898 yılına kadar port pipe tipi fıçıları viski olgunlaştırmada çokça kullanmış ve sonraki yüzyıl boyunca bir daha akıllarına bile getirmemişler, ta ki Port Ruighe’a kadar. Ve 2000’li yıllardan sonra doğru bir karar alarak, genç yaşına rağmen böylesine katmanlı aroma profiline sahip bir viskiyi piyasaya sürmüşler.

P.S:

1. “Talisker” adı İskandinav “Thalas Gair” kelimesinden türemiş ve İngilizce’de “sloping rock”, Türkçe’de “eğimli kaya” anlamına geliyor. Thalas Gair aynı zamanda damıtımevinin bulunduğu körfezin hemen üstünde yer alan dağın adı.
2. Talisker ilginç bir şekilde, 1928 yılına kadar, viskilerini üç kez damıtmayı tercih etmiştir.

Talisker Distillery was founded by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill in 1830. Their Port Ruighe expression was added to the core range in 2013 and salutes Scottish port wine traders with its name.

Nose; citrus, nutmeg, smoke.
Palate; sultanas, red berries, chocolate chips, creamy and earthy.
Finish; medium to long, black pepper, more smoke with sweetness.

Port Ruighe is matured in bourbon casks and finished in ruby port casks, NAS, bottled at 45.8% ABV and non-chill filtered with amber in colour but colouring added.

Talisker used port pipes until 1898, reintroducing them for the first time with Port Ruighe. How lucky we are that they did that. Because this expression is a delicious NAS whisky with multiple layers to discover.

P.S:

1. The name “Talisker” originates from the Norse term “Thalas Gair,” translating to “Sloping Rock”. Additionally, Thalas Gair is the name of the mountain above the bay.
2. Interestingly, Talisker employed a triple distillation technique until 1928.
