Glentauchers’ı esas olarak harmanlarda kullanılmasıyla biliyoruz. Özellikle Ballantine’s için ürettiği meyvemsi karakterli viskiyle meşhur. Ancak damıtımevinin bağımsız şişelemelerinin hikâyesi çok farklı ve Duncan Taylor Glentauchers 2008 bu geleneğin güzel bir örneği.

Temmuz 2008’de damıtılan ve Mart 2021’de şişelenen, Glentauchers Damıtımevi çıkışlı bu fıçı sertliğindeki viski, tamamen meşe fıçılarda olgunlaşmış. Altın renginde, renklendirici yok, soğuk filtrasyon uygulanmamış ve alkol oranı %54.4. Viski sadece 293 limitli bir single cask olarak piyasaya sunulmuş ve fıçı numarası 859006741.

Glentauchers’ı bağımsız şişelemelerde daha çok seviyorum; net ve dolgun bir yapıları var. Dimensions serisi de bu karakteri gayet iyi yansıtıyor. Speyside profili belirgin ve genel olarak dengeli. Bir şeri bombası değil, zaten serinin odağı her zaman önce viski ve bu ekspresyon da aynı felsefeyle şişelenmiş. Temiz ve teknik olarak sağlam bir malt; dikkatli içimi özellikle ödüllendiriyor. Glentauchers is traditionally known as a blending workhorse, supplying a clean, fruity whisky mainly for Ballantine’s. But independent bottlings of the distillery are something else. Duncan Taylor Glentauchers 12 is another great example of this tradition.

Nose: fresh fruits like green apple and apricot, honey, vanilla and citrus.
Palate: nutmeg, plums, a hint of toasty oak, black pepper, ginger, oily and beautifully balanced.
Finish: long, dry, sweet spices, oaky and mouthful.

Distilled in July 2008 and bottled in March 2021, Duncan Taylor Glentauchers 12 is a limited-edition single cask bottling, with only 293 bottles released (Cask No: 859006741). This whisky is fully matured in oak casks. It boasts a clean, gold natural colour and is non-chill-filtered. At 12 years old, it has an ABV of 54.4%.

I mostly love the independent bottlings of Glentauchers; they have clarity and weight, and this Dimensions release captures that. The Speyside spirit is lovely, and the structure is fine. Not a sherry bomb (sorry, sherryheads), but the series tends to highlight whisky first, and this bottle follows that philosophy closely. It is a clean and technically sound Speyside malt that rewards geeky/nerdy drinking.
