The Original 10, yıllarca Glenmorangie çekirdek ailesinin merkezinde yer aldı; birçok kişi için single malt dünyasına giriş şişesi oldu ve kendi kategorisinde İskoçya’nın en çok satan viskilerinden biri hâline geldi. 2024’te ise sessizce emekliye ayrıldı.
Burun: bal, taze pişmiş portakallı çikolatalı kurabiye.
Damak: sarı elma dilimleri, vanilyalı dondurma, baharatlı ve ferah.
Bitiş: orta-uzun arası, meşe, beyaz biber, hareketli ve enerjik son.
Kadehte birkaç dakika havalandıktan sonra, çiçeksi notalar öne çıkıyor.
Glenmorangie 10, Amerikan burbon beyaz meşe fıçılarda olgunlaşmış. Altın renginde, karamel kullanılmış, soğuk filtrasyon uygulanmış ve %40 ABV ile şişelenmiş bir klasik.

The Original 10 üretildiği dönemde iyi bir referans noktasıydı ve Glenmorangie’nin damıtımevi karakterini en net gösteren ekspresyonlardan biriydi. Elbette özleyeceğiz ama yeni 12 de, dürüstçe söylemek gerekirse, hiç fena değil. Şikâyet edecek bir durum yok. Ayrıca, her zaman olduğu gibi emeği geçen Dr Bill Lumsden’a da hakkını teslim etmek lazım. Müthiş akılcı bir ürün yönetimi gösteriyor.

The Original 10 Year Old sat at the heart of Glenmorangie’s core range for decades as a starting point, and was one of Scotland’s best-selling malts in its category. In mid-2024, it was retired.
Nose: honey and newly baked orange chocolate cookies.
Palate: sliced golden apples, vanilla ice cream, spicy and fresh.
Finish: medium to long, oak, white pepper, tingling and energetic.
After a few minutes in the glass, the whisky becomes floral.
Glenmorangie 10 was matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. It was gold in colour (with caramel), non-chill-filtered, and bottled at 40% ABV.

Glenmorangie’s decision to raise the age statement feels strategic, not stylistic. It helps push the brand further into premium territory and also makes sense from a stock management perspective as general Scotch whisky demand slows.
The Original 10 was a benchmark and one of the clearest expressions of the Glenmorangie vibrant house style. I’ll miss it, but the new 12-year-old is honestly a good one. Hard to complain. Credit where it’s due, Dr Bill Lumsden. Smart and beautiful brand management.
