1824 yılında kurulan Glenlivet, Speyside malt viskilerinin önde gelen üreticilerinden biri ve 2015’te tanıtılan Master Distiller’s Reserve, damıtımevinde uzun yıllar görev yapan Alan Winchester’ın harmanlama felsefesini yansıtmak amacıyla hazırlanmış, üstada saygı niteliğinde bir viski.

Viski, ilk dolum Amerikan meşe fıçılar ile, eski şeri ve geleneksel meşe fıçılarda olgunlaşmış. NAS, 1 litre, altın renginde, fakat renklendirici olarak karamel kullanılıp, soğuk filtrasyon uygulanmış ve %40 ABV ile şişelenmiş.

Yoğun şeri fıçıları doğru kullanılmazsa viskiyi kolayca baskılayabiliyor. Glenlivet Damıtımevi ise uzun boyunlu ve fener şeklindeki imbikleri sayesinde hafif ve yumuşak viskiler üretmesiyle meşhur. Bu nedenle Master Distiller’s Reserve’de şeri etkisi bilinçli şekilde sınırlı tutulmuş ve böylece damıtımevinin karakteristik meyve odaklı profili korunmuş. Palate: dried fruits, spice, citrus, ginger, sweet candies and oak.

The whisky is matured in traditional oak casks, including first-fill American oak barrels and ex-sherry casks. NAS, 1 litre, bottled at 40% ABV, with added caramel and chill-filtered, has a gold colour.

The Glenlivet’s tall, lantern-shaped stills and long necks naturally produce a light, elegant spirit. Due to its delicate character, heavy sherry maturation can easily overpower it unless carefully managed during blending. In Master Distiller’s Reserve, the sherry influence is intentionally kept restrained, allowing the distillery’s fruit-driven profile to remain prominent. The triple cask concept, therefore, functions less as a source of bold flavour layers and more as a balancing tool, integrating the different oak influences into a cohesive and approachable whisky that sits comfortably within the modern Speyside style.

For those new to Speyside, it offers a soft entry into Glenlivet’s distillery character. Whisky enthusiasts, however, may treat it more as a relaxed weekday pour than a bottle meant for careful study.
