Aslen duty-free satışları için şişelen Glen Deveron 16, 1958 yılında kurulan Macduff Damıtımevi’nin Royal Burgh single malt serisinin en genç ekspresyonu.

Burun; bal, çok hafif is, vanilya ve ferahlatıcı.
Damak; limoncello, elmalı turta, baharat, şeftali.
Bitiş; kısa, malt, meşe ve beyaz biber.
(Su eklemenize gerek yok çünkü kadehte bir kaç dakika geçirdikten sonra viski açılıyor)

Viski parlak altın renginde ama renklendirici olarak karamel kullanılıyor. Burbon ve şeri meşe fıçılarda olgunlaşıyor. Soğuk filtrasyon uygulanıyor ve %40 ABV ile litrelik olarak şişeleniyor. 16 yıllık ve içimi çok rahat. Açılması için su eklemenize gerek kalmıyor. Kadehte bir kaç dakika bekletmeniz yeterli.

Glen Deveron 16, Royal Burgh ailesinin en küçük üyesi. Abileri ise 20 ve 30 yaşlarında. Royal Burgh serisi 2013 yılında, Cannes’da düzenlenen TFWA Fuarında “Drinks Launch of the Year” ve “Supreme Travel Retail Champion Trophy” ödüllerini kazanmış. Aynı yıl, “Spirits Business Travel Retail Masters” törenlerinde yılın en iyi lansmanı ödülüne layık görülmüş. Etkileyici, değil mi? Fakat serinin üretimi artık duruduruldu. Eğer bir seyahat dönüşü duty-free’de rast gellirseniz, denemenizi tavsiye ederim.

1. Macduff Damıtımevi’nde üretilen viskinin sadece %10’u single maltlar için ayrılıyor. Geriye kalan %90 ise, çoğunlukla Dewar’s ve ülkemizde pek bilinmeyen William Lawson’s harmanlarında kullanılıyor.

Created by the Macduff Distillery (Est. 1958), The 16-year-old single malt Scotch whisky from the Glen Deveron range, bearing the name used by Macduff for its official bottlings, was initially launched for the Travel Retail market.

Nose; fresh, honey, a hint of smoke and vanilla.
Palate; limoncello, apple pie, spice and peaches.
Finish; short, malt, white pepper and oak.

The whisky is matured in both bourbon and sherry casks. Bright gold in colour, bottled at 40% ABV, 1 litre, caramel added and chill-filtered. 16-year-old expression is an easy-to-sip whisky. You don’t need water to open it up, a couple of minutes in the glass is enough.

Glen Deveron 16 is the youngest member in the Royal Burgh Collection. His big brothers are 20 and 30-year-old bottlings. The Collection won the Drinks Launch of the Year award and the Supreme Travel Retail Champion trophy at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes. Additionally, the Collection was honoured as the Best New Launch at the Spirits Business Travel Retail Masters awards. Impressive, aren’t they? But sadly, they are discontinued now. Grab a bottle, if you still find one.

1. Approximately 10% of the malt whisky crafted at the distillery is designated for Single Malt Whisky bottling. The predominant portion of the distilled spirit is integrated as a key element in Dewar’s and William Lawson’s blends.
